MAKING A BOOK

OBJECTIVE
To create a 12 page booklet to understand the princlpes of bindery, imposition and signature as related to printing. You will also create the layout of the book which reflects the topic you choose from the following list:

You must demonstrate in the book what you have learned . Use typography, illustrations, and/or photographs. You can paint, draw, print or paste the elements into the book.
Supplies
Canson paper (20" x 16") or similar
Your choice of color
Directions Cut to 20" x 5" or similiar
fold in half to 10" x 5"
fold again to 5" x 5"
fold again to create a 3" flap on both sides
Six - 10" x 5" sheets - smooth, light colored cover/heavy stock
fold in half to make 5"" square booklet.
Ribbon/string/cord 30" long
Your choice of color
After you have cut and folded the paper, make two holes each half and inch in from the edge of each of the folds halfway down the side.
Staple twice in the center of the booklet creating a saddle stitch binding.
Thread the ribbon through the holes.
Optional feature
Cut out a square in the middle of the front cover.
