Archie boston is a nationally known art director, designer and educator, and a tenured Professor at California State University Long Beach. He also operates his own design firm, Archie Boston Design.
He received his BFA degree with honors, in Advertising Design from Chouinard Art Institute and his MLA degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Southern California.
He worked for nine years at Botsford Ketchum, Inc. (Ketchum Communications) as Senior Art Director on national and regional accounts such as: Yamaha International Corp., Motorola Government Electronics Division, Pentel of America,Varian Associates, the California Raisin Advisory Board, Lloyds Bank, Suntory Whisky and Raytheon.
Mr. Boston founded Archie Boston Graphic Design in 1977, and has worked with clients such as: Centinela Hospital Medical Center, Grody Tellem Communications, National Athletic Health Institute, Marina Del Rey Hotel, Marina International Hotel, Fisherman’s Village, Western Spine Institute, Kerlan Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic, South Bay Independent Physicians, Ketchum Communications, William Esty, Inc., Central City Association of Los Angeles and the Walt Disney Company.
He has served two terms as President of the Art Directors Club of Los Angeles, and has served on the Board of Directors for ten years. He has judged many shows over the years such as: Communication Arts Magazine, The Tulsa and Witchita Art Directors Club Shows, The Los Angeles Art Directors Club Show, The Los Angeles Advertising Women Show, Thesan Fran-Cisco Society of Communication Arts and the San Diego 1998 Creative Show.
Mr. Boston has been a consistent award winner in distinguished shows as: The New York, San Francisco And Los Angeles Art Directors Club Shows, Communication Arts and Art Direction Magazine Shows, Western Art Director’s Show, Print Magazine’s 1997 Regional Design Annual, The Type Directors and The Aiga Shows, The Los Angeles Belding Awards Show, Graphis Annual and Typomondus 20, International Exposition of the "Best Graphics of the 20th Century." |
